Pittman's Fables

Fable - a short tale to teach a moral lesson, often with animals or inanimate objects as characters; example: the fable of the tortoise and the hare; Aesop's fables.

Goal:  Read four fables. Describe the fables' characters and traits.  Identify the morals (themes) of the fables. Create and write a new fable using two characters and a moral. 

1.   Students will be working in teams of two (or three) for the following project - the Reader and the Recorder.

2.   Reader - The Reader will read at least four fables from the online list of fables.  The Reader will be responsible for   identifying the story characters and their traits (personalities) for these fables.

3.   Recorder - The Recorder will read at least four fables from the online list of fables.  The Recorder will be responsible for recording the different morals (themes) of the fables.

4.   Reader - Use the graphic organizer to record characters and important information from the fables that are read. Print.

5.   Recorder - Use the graphic organizer to record the morals (themes) of the fables that are read. Print.

6.   Both - Use the checklist as a guide to make sure all the parts of the project are complete.  This may be printed for a copy to use. 

 7.   Both - Using the information that is gathered, plan a fable of your own.  Use the template to name and describe your characters and outline your story.  State the moral the new fable will have.  Using Microsoft Word, write your story.  After it is finished, check for correct spelling, punctuation, and meaning.
